Uganda is a country with great biodiversity including mountain gorillas, chimpanzees and 20 other species of primates including the rare golden monkey. On a classic safari game drive, lion, elephant, leopard, hyena, giraffe, hippo and buffalo plus a wide variety of antelope can be seen. With a little more effort, patience and luck other species such as bushbabies, pottos, pangolin, civet, genet, jackal, giant forest hog and serval cat may even be encountered. Uganda is also a birdwatcher’s dream with over one thousand bird species, and there’s plenty of other nature on show such as stunning butterflies and strange and exotic insects with colourful reptiles like the three horned Rwenzori chameleon.
Uganda is a real treat when it comes to African travel. Two things make Uganda unique though - savannah landscape merges into rain forest that merges into snow-capped equatorial mountain ranges plus Uganda unlike neighbouring countries has few visitors so you will see less vehicles on your game drives, giving you the experience of the real wild Africa.
